We've been shooting like crazy lately! One of our favorite houses we recently photographed was from a new client. A 5 bedroom/2 bathroom...huge, beautiful craftsman in Pasadena! I can't imagine what I'd do with all the room! Formal Dining room, Living Room, Family Room, huge laundry room, and Library (dreamy)...not to mention a huge backyard with a 2 bedroom apartment. It really was fun to photograph stills and a virtual tour of!
The Wonderfulness of Staging
One of the things that really helps a house sell...besides great photography of course...is staging. Great staging takes out the echo of the empty house and creates the warmth of a home. It will help buyers imagine what the house would look like, if they lived there. It gives personality and scale to an empty room. Staging is the difference between wearing your sweat pants to and interview and wearing a nice suit. I'm always so appreciative of a realtor that has staging. Here is a great example of staging vs empty room...
Twilight Real Estate Photography
One of the things that I think really takes a real estate listing from great to amazing, is evening or twilight photo shoots. I love them! Not only does it really show the house in a dreamy light with amazing blue skies, it's absolutely fun for the photographer. You really have to wait to the light to get to the right spot. You have to wait for that quality that you want. These shoots generally make me slow down and wait. I find I shoot far more photos than I normally shoot on an exterior. As the sun goes down, the moon comes up, and as the lights come on...there are so many different levels and qualities of light, you don't want to miss a thing. Every few minutes I take a shot because the light is so beautiful...then it seems to get more and more beautiful. When you add in a beautiful home...it's my favorite type of shoot! Here are a few examples of twilight or evening shoots.
Utilizing your Virtual Tour
One of the features of my virtual tours and slideshows is the client access and editing. Any client can sign in to their tour to change photo order, add music, change features, etc.
Using this feature, my client Jerry Sun and his team have really added all the extras to their virtual tour. His assistant Mandy, asked for all the access she could have and I let her. I have to say she's taken it from good to amazing! Just some of the ways they've taken this 360 degree virtual tour up a notch...they asked me to shoot sunset shots of the house, they've added in a video intro to the beginning and have added voice overs on individual scenes. She's really customized it to the fullest. I love it. Their latest tour is the best example of how to really make a virtual tour shine!
This friday, I go back for another evening photo shoot with the house staged. I can't wait to see it all dressed up! In the meantime, Take a look at the tour!
Another Beautiful Remodel
One of our remodel clients, Dave's Remodeling, sent us out to photograph the one of his finished kitchens. It has a nice open feel, great storage and an island large enough for seating and a cook top. I would love to see the "before" shots of the kitchen just to compare...but it sure has a fresh clean look!
Take a look at the full slideshow here...
Eagle Rock Charmer
We just photographed another awesome home for Ernie Espinoza of Allison James Estates and Homes. We love photographing his listings! He tends bring a modern edge to his listings and they really stand out. This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home in Eagle Rock is modest but has an upgraded kitchen and bathroom...add in the great staging of the guys from Tini and this house won't be on the market long! Check out the slideshow!

What we do in our Spare time...
We work with Precious Paws! Precious Paws has been a part of our life for a few years. We try to support them in any way we can. Most of the time that means showing up to one of their events to photograph the event and their rescues...other times that means coming home with a few of their animals. We've actually adopted two cats and a dog through them.
Precious Paws just started working with Petopia Animal Rescue at the Westfield Promenade in Woodland Hills. They are now showing cats at their adoption center. They are there every weekend...so go check them out! Visit, donate, meet cool people and maybe even find the pet of your dreams!
Susan Olsen of the Brady Bunch makes and sells this awesome candy to benefit the animals!
Patrick
These two were very close to coming home with us!
Come to their events and you might meet Susan Olsen and Robbie Rist from the Brady Bunch

Million Dollar Home in Downey
Last week we photographed for new client in Downey, CA. It was a 6 bed 5 bath home that needed a marketing boost. Built across from a golf course, it was fun to be able to shoot a beautiful 360 degree image in the front yard. Although that shot wasn't used...I think I'll keep it for my portfolio!

Unlikely Art
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to photography a warehouse as a test shoot for a project. I've photographed a few warehouses in the past and really enjoy it. Where most people see a large room with a bunch of stuff in it, I see great lines. Call me crazy, but I love the look of the photos!
Mobile Virtual Tours are Here!
We offer two different types of virtual tour. Both have their respective mobile versions and they are both beautiful!
Overhauling and Photos
The images are old and not representative of the quality of work we produce. We don't feel the galleries show a full property. We'll also be changing the pricing and order structure. A full full overhaul!
We'd love to hear any suggestions you have to make viewing and navigating our site easier for you. We're excited to get started and definitely excited to see it finished and running!
In the mean time, take a look at some samples of water scapes, pools, and landscape designs from Politi Design...

Business Cards
I have since realized that I run a paperless company. Rarely do I print anything out. I do hand out my business cards. However, everything else is easily sent in an email.
Every once in a while, the guilt of printing up all the letterhead and envelopes does pop up. It's at that time that I find myself printing marketing up on the letterhead then stuffing them into the envelopes. Then out I run to hand out the marketing info to local businesses. Because of this I've finally run down my supply of paper and envelopes. I do not plan on printing up more.
Let me tell you though, I have plenty of business cards left. I must have printed up a million of those suckers. I have gone through three quarters of them. However, one full box sits on the shelf. Should this really be a problem? Normally it wouldn't.
However, I have a couple of different issues going on here. The first being my last name. I was married last year and my last name is now different. Easy fix really. But I haven't ordered new cards yet. This is because I'm in the process of revamping the MediaCarrot logo. However, the biggest problem for me is that I find it hard to waste that last box of business cards.
I draw the line and crossing out the maiden name and handwriting in the new name. And I've finally gotten tired of handing out my business card and then getting the questioning look..."who is Laura Nelson?". It's officially time for new business cards!
I'm excited. New logo and new cards with the new last name. My question is...what do I do with this whole box of business cards with the old last name?
